Writing a book? We can help
Deep River offers one-on-one editorial services to help you develop your manuscript to the publishing stage.
We work very closely with book authors to make sure that we understand what they need and how best to serve them.
If you want full creative control and wish to do self-publishing, we can help take your book from its original manuscript to publication in a cost-effective way. We can also consult with you about how to promote your self-published book.
Our services for book authors
- fact checking and background research. If you're writing a forensic novel, a historical romance, or a thriller set in an exotic place (just three examples), your work will rise or fall on the accuracy of details. We can do the work of checking accuracy and providing you background context so you can concentrate on creativity.
- proofreading. This means finding and correcting grammar and spelling errors. It's the most basic editorial service we offer.
- copy editing (also known as "line editing"). In a copy editing assignment, we review your writing for word use, cohesiveness of argument, consistency in point of view, and flow. We show you where we have found points of concern, and we recommend ways you might make your writing stronger. We also show you how to format your paper for best presentation.
- overall evaluation. This editorial service provides a constructive analysis of character development, plot credibility, narration, action, and other elements of fiction. For nonfiction, we assess the organization and presentation of content, and we make recommendations based on our analysis of the market for your work.
